NASHVILLE, Tenn., October 28, 2008 – Guitar Hero: The Art of Rob Hendon, an exhibit featuring works by the acclaimed guitar portraitist, is on display now in the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s West Gallery. The exhibit, which features seven vibrant paintings of acoustic and electric guitars rendered in various media, will run through March 31, 2009.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., October 14, 2008 - Country music superstar Randy Travis will visit the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s Ford Theater on Friday, November 7, for a rare public interview. Travis, whose powerful yet understated baritone and hard-country aesthetic changed the course of country music in the mid-1980s and helped to usher in the New Traditionalist era, will talk about his career and his new CD, Around the Bend, with Museum Editor Michael Gray. The program, which will begin at 1:00 p.m., is included with Museum admission and is free for Museum members.

He joins musical performers including Larry Campbell, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and Levon Helm. The benefit will be presented as an old-fashioned “guitar pull,” featuring songs, stories, unique musical collaborations and memories. Hosting the special evening will be Billy Bob Thornton and his band, the Boxmasters, who will kick off the evening with a full-band performance.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., September 22, 2008 – The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will unveil a special spotlight exhibit dedicated to global music icon Johnny Cash on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Johnny Cash: Man in Black, will be located on the third floor in the heart of the Museum’s core exhibition. The following week, the Museum will shine a light on legendary country balladeer Gene Watson with Gene Watson: Fourteen Carat Voice, beginning Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Both exhibits will run through Spring 2009.

This afternoon, at an event at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) recognized and honored the selection of a painting from the Museum’s permanent collection, Thomas Hart Benton’s The Sources of Country Music (1975), for the NEH’s new Picturing AmericaSM. program. Picturing America is a free educational resource that provides 40 reproductions of great American artworks and an illustrated teachers resource book to schools and public libraries nationwide, where they can be used to help teach American history and culture.
