Hatch Show Print is a 129-year-old letterpress print shop. Hatch prides itself on being a working museum with the motto “preservation thru production.” As a way of sharing the history of Hatch and the enjoyment of letterpress, we offer a student internship program. We’re happy to offer this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
As an intern at Hatch you will learn the art of letterpress in a fun and professional environment. You’ll be doing hard work and getting dirty. Eventually you’ll have the opportunity to interact with real clients on real jobs. Remember this is a business with a demanding production schedule. The ideal internship candidate will be ready to act professionally, work hard, follow directions, listen well and be ready to learn. Oh, and you’ll be standing all day.
Housing, meals and transportation will be your responsibility. If you need help finding housing we have a few suggestions.
Application Information
We do NOT take email applications. We’re living in the 19th Century over here.
Please send a physical resume with a short cover letter explaining why you would like to intern at Hatch, what you expect to get out of the experience and what you have to offer. If you have work you would like to show, please send printed hard copies of scans or photos, as we have limited digital capabilities. We offer five different unpaid internship sessions. Please include which session you will be applying for. There is limited space in each session so we expect to receive applications two months before the session you are applying for.
